The authorities have approved a Rs 131 crore project to build a 12-metre-wide road over a covered drain at Shahberi, on the Ghaziabad-Greater Noida West edge, to connect NH-9 with the Noida West (Greater Noida West) side. The idea is to open up a smoother route and relieve the heavy traffic that builds up between Ghaziabad and Greater Noida West, where the Shahberi stretch has long been a notorious bottleneck for the lakhs of residents in the Noida Extension high-rise belt. Covering the drain and running a road over it is meant to add road width exactly where there is no spare land to widen conventionally.

Greater Noida West has thousands of occupied flats but has long been held back by weak last-mile connectivity, so a direct NH-9 link through Shahberi targets one of the belt’s real pain points rather than a headline mega-project.

For buyers and residents in the Noida Extension belt, this is the kind of unglamorous connectivity fix that genuinely improves daily life and supports both end-user demand and rentals once it is built. As always with approved-but-not-finished infrastructure, treat it as a positive in progress – worth tracking to completion rather than pricing in today.
