Supreme Court defers Supertech Twin Towers homebuyer refund hearing by three months

A Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant has granted a three-month extension on the petition seeking refunds for homebuyers of Noida’s demolished Supertech twin towers (Emerald Court, Sector 93A), which were razed by controlled explosion in August 2022.

The bench cited the need for more time to ‘explore other options to satisfy the claims of homebuyers.’ Refunds are to come proportionally from funds held by the Interim Resolution Professional as Supertech’s insolvency proceedings continue; the last payout round was in 2024. The next hearing is expected around October 2026.

For buyers, it’s a reminder of why due diligence matters — checking RERA registration, a builder’s financial and legal standing, and the fine print on redevelopment and insolvency risk before committing. Those safeguards are what protect your money if a project runs into trouble.
