Pune Metro’s Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar corridor (Line 3) cleared its final Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety authorization in July, after missing an earlier target, and by mid-September officials named a concrete window for the first time: the first 12 stations had cleared inspection, with 5 more expected shortly, bringing the opening-day count to 17 of the corridor’s 23 stations. The inauguration is expected to be virtual, subject to clearance and scheduling.
Line 3 is Pune’s most-anticipated transit project, connecting the Hinjewadi IT hub to the city core – the single upgrade that would most directly ease the corridor’s daily commute.
For buyers along the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar route, an operating metro is a genuine long-term value and liveability driver. Given how many dates have already slipped, the honest note is to treat the end-September target as the closest yet rather than confirmed – the real milestone is the first passenger service.
