MIDC advances Chakan Phase 2-5 link road to December 2026 in corridor fix-it push

MIDC and the Pune district administration have launched coordinated action to fix chronic road and traffic problems across the Chakan-Talegaon industrial belt – a fragmented network currently split across six agencies (MIDC, PWD, MSIDC, MSRDC, PMRDA and NHAI). The most concrete win: the Chakan Phase 2-5 link road’s completion deadline has been advanced from March 2027 to December 2026.

Near-term measures include accelerated pothole repairs, encroachment removal, and better parking and traffic management. Longer term, the NH-548D Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur corridor is proposed for an upgrade from two lanes to four or six. The push follows a residents’ body (PCCHSF) publicly calling for exactly this kind of coordinated action days earlier, citing severe congestion, safety concerns and delays to approved projects.

Chakan-Talegaon is one of Pune’s largest manufacturing and auto-ancillary employment belts, so better roads here are a leading indicator for housing demand across PCMC’s northern reaches. Connectivity upgrades near industrial employment hubs are an underrated appreciation signal – the kind of story that moves demand well before the IT-corridor headlines everyone already tracks.
