The long-stalled Katraj-Kondhwa Road project in south Pune – held up for years by land-acquisition obstacles since 2017-18 – has received a fresh push after a direct intervention by the Municipal Commissioner and District Collector following an August 12 site inspection. Ten properties remain pending acquisition and continue to block continuous road development.
The Commissioner directed the Special Land Acquisition Officer and Deputy Collector to pursue mutual-settlement acquisitions where possible, ordered electric poles and transformers relocated within a week, and called for a comprehensive obstacles report with a follow-up review the following week. Once complete – alongside the adjoining NHAI flyover – the road is expected to ease traffic toward Saswad via the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway.
For south Pune – Katraj, Kondhwa and the Saswad-bound corridor – this is a connectivity-watch story rather than a done deal: concrete completion dates aren’t available yet, so treat it as a positive signal to track, not a reason to assume the road is imminent.
