Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a Rs 60,000 crore package covering five expressway corridors around Pune – Pune-Shirur, Hadapsar-Yavat, Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur, Shirur-Sambhajinagar, and a Pune-Sambhajinagar Expressway. The same announcement included a more immediate Rs 164 crore, 2.2 km Chandni Chowk-Bhugaon corridor with a flyover, a river bridge and an underpass, with land acquisition already about 80% complete.
A package this large reshapes regional connectivity, and the Chandni Chowk-Bhugaon piece is the kind of near-term, mostly-acquired project that can actually get built soon.
For buyers, better regional roads widen Pune’s commuter catchment over time. The honest split: the expressways are long-horizon announcements to watch for approvals, while the Chandni Chowk-Bhugaon corridor is the near-term one worth tracking to completion.
