Purandar Airport land-consent deadline extended to August 31 as acquisition nears 92.5%

The farmer-consent deadline for the Purandar International Airport land acquisition – earlier reported as August 16 – has been extended to August 31, 2026, after farmers cited family difficulties, incomplete documentation and administrative delays in seeking more time. District Collector Jitendra Dudi has confirmed that compulsory acquisition will proceed against anyone who has not submitted consent by the new date.

Those who miss the deadline lose the MIDC rehabilitation benefit – 10% of their land back as developed plots, or a minimum of 10 guntas – and face acquisition without that cushion. The airport needs 1,218.75 hectares across seven villages, plus a separate 253.21 hectares for an “Aerocity” township. As of early August, roughly 92.5% of the land and about Rs 2,600 crore in compensation had already been processed.

Purandar Airport is one of the biggest long-term growth stories for south Pune real estate, and this update cuts both ways: the 92.5% figure is a strong “this is really happening” signal, while the repeated deadline extensions are a reminder that the last stretch of land acquisition is rarely quick. For buyers watching the surrounding micro-market, it is a genuine appreciation signal to track – measured against the reality that big airport timelines tend to move slowly.
