Greater Noida West metro gets PIB green light: 8.4km Aqua Line extension approved

The Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved a revised, shorter alignment of the long-delayed Greater Noida West metro — an 8.4km elevated corridor running from Noida Sector 51 to Greater Noida West Sector 4 (Gaur Chowk), at a cost of roughly ₹2,000 crore.

The line adds five new stations: Sector 61, Sector 70, Sector 122, Sector 123 and Greater Noida West Sector 4 (Gaur Chowk). According to NMRC, the proposal now goes to the Union Cabinet for final sign-off once PIB’s minutes are shared — expected within a week — after which the construction-tender process begins, with a build timeline of about four years.

This is a shorter, revived version of an 18km alignment Uttar Pradesh had cleared in 2024, which stalled pending decisions on the Ghaziabad–Jewar RRTS corridor. It marks the first concrete movement on the project in roughly two years, and is a separate corridor from the Bodaki–Botanical Garden extension moving in parallel.

For homebuyers, a direct metro has long been the missing piece in Greater Noida West. Confirmed connectivity strengthens the long-term appreciation case for the sectors along the route — 61, 70, 122 and 123 — and the wider Gaur Chowk belt.
